Everything that you’re not supposed to talk about — religion, politics, money — is exactly what I’m going to share. 2009 brought our family interesting times. We’re closer and bound more strongly to each other due to near catastrophic events in each of those categories. I won’t get into specifics about 2009. However, this picture of Adeleine embodies my goals for 2010.
She’s standing heel-deep in sand, covered in grime from our last adventure, looking towards the endless sea for our next. I protected her from eating too much sand. I protected her from running headfirst into the ocean without any sense of how to manage the rip tides. Nothing else stopped her from testing the world.
That’s my 2010. Please don’t try to stop me. Just keep me from drowning.
All I ask is that you keep up with me. If you can’t, then that strange sensation you’ll be feeling in the seat of your pants will be my boot in your ass!
