Prof. Quintard Taylor is the Scott and Dorothy Bullitt Professor of American History at University of Washington. While I was attending University of Oregon, Dr. Taylor’s class, African Americans in the West, opened my eyes to a new look at African American/black history, and history in general. I wasn’t a big fan of history prior to Dr. Taylor’s class but his teachings and teaching style woke me from my self-imposed boredom with the subject.
Three years ago, Dr. Taylor created a non-profit organization and website at www.blackpast.org. Self-described as An Online Reference Guide to African American History, the site contains over 2500 pages of information. This is truly a fabulous resource for anyone interested specifically in African American history or history in general.
