I’m at a conference in Las Vegas and was really enjoying the comfort of my room…until…
The Palazzo in Vegas entertained me with the following overhead announcement IN the room at 3:20 AM and 5:30 AM. Oh, the periodic flashing red light is on the ceiling near the bed.
WARNING: THE SOUND IS VERY LOUD.
After playing the message over and over and NOT getting an answer from the front desk staff, I threw on my clothes and found no one in the hallways. I quickly packed my most important stuff, turned on the local TV channel and looked outside. NOTHING. When my call was finally answered, the staff said to wait for an all clear but they had NO IDEA what was going one. Finally….
WARNING: THE SOUND IS VERY LOUD.
I was totally awake and decided to find out what was going on…except the elevators were not working and I’m on the 47th floor. The front desk staff informed me that they were ‘testing’ the alarm system and that same alarm system disables the elevators for a few minutes beyond the all clear. ARRRGH!
After finally getting to sleep…it all started again at 5:30 AM.
